Housing Support for Immigrant Families
As we talk to school staff and Family Engagement Liaisons in our local schools, one of the biggest needs right now is help with covering rent costs. These needs are greatest with our immigrant families that will not be receiving a stimulus check. We believe that our undocumented neighbors are important members of our community and we want to offer them financial support through these tough times. As members of our community receive stimulus checks, we wanted to provide a way that they can support families who will not be receiving a check.
If you would like to donate to help cover the housing costs of our immigrant families, you can donate to the Jefferson Area Family and Community Support Fund here. When you receive your donation confirmation email, just reply and let us know that you would like to designate your gift to help cover housing costs for a family.
Then we will be working with school staff and Family Engagement Liaisons at Edgewater Elementary, Jefferson Junior/Senior, Lumberg Elementary and Molholm Elementary to connect families with $500 to help cover their housing costs. We know we won’t be able to help all families in need of funds, but any help makes a difference at this point.
Goal: $20,000 ($500 for 10 families at each of our four schools)
Progress: $8,300 raised and distributed so far
