What is Lunch and Learn?

  • Free lunch for kids and families
  • Free literacy lesson for kids
  • Free book for kids

Lunch and Learn are free summer lunch sites for children and families near apartment complexes in Lakewood. Lunches are served following all distancing, hand hygiene, masking and site disinfection protocols in a grab and go style. At each lunch site, there is a literacy lesson for kindergarten through 3rd grade students led by area teachers.

Times and Locations

Lunch sites will operate on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Jeffco Public Schools operates lunch sites in the community on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Tuesday, August 18 and Thursday, August 20

11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Walker-Branch Park
5825 W. 16th Ave., Lakewood

We will continue meeting at Walker-Branch Park on Tuesdays and Thursdays through August 20.

Then with the start of school on August 24, we’ll be at the same location and time for Pathway Pods Monday through Friday.

Literacy Lessons

We also received a grant to pair these lunch sites with literacy lessons led by area teachers. Teachers will be paid a stipend and lessons would be for kindergarten through 3rd grade students.

We are looking for teachers from Edgewater Elementary, Lumberg Elementary or Molholm Elementary to help lead these literacy lessons. Email joel@edgewatercollective.org if you are interested in being part of the planning discussion.

Partnership with Jefferson County Public Library

We are excited to also partner with Jefferson County Public Library at each of these Lunch & Learn sites! Children will receive summer reading activity trackers, books and other materials throughout the summer.

Health and Safety

We will be following all distancing, hand hygiene, masking and site disinfection protocols.
