At the beginning of this year, we didn’t know what the future would look like without paid staff, but we were excited for the possibilities of our work truly becoming a collective effort. And it has!
Here’s a glimpse of what has been happening in Edgewater through the work of dedicated volunteers and community leaders:
Supporting Schools and Student Success
- Through the help of dedicated Jefferson alumni, we held our first successful golf tournament to support the Jefferson Booster Club.
- We raised funds for the Lumberg Teacher Learning Center and the space will start to take shape this week as tables are delivered.
- We supported the Jefferson Community Center through projects like Menstrual Equity.
- The Gina Hartley Scholarship Fund to support Jefferson graduates in their pursuit of college dreams keeps growing thanks to generous donors.
- Thanks to the generosity of Jefferson teachers and staff, as well as community members, over $4,000 has been raised to encourage local families this holiday season.
Supporting Community-Led Projects
- The best projects take time to grow and the Jefferson Community Garden is a great example of that. We just finished our seventh season in the garden and community members played a huge role in keeping this project moving forward.
- We helped support community events like the Edgewater Zero Waste Talk and the Edgewater Harvest Festival at the Orum House. With proceeds from these events we started the Edgewater Sustainability Fund and the Edgewater Historical Fund to support community-led efforts in our community.
Supporting Edgewater Businesses
- Through our local online newspaper, the Edgewater Echo, we shared local business news with community members.
- We also helped support the growth of the Edgewater Business Association and its connection to the West Metro Chamber.
