These past few months have been stressful for the Jefferson Area for a variety of reasons, including district plans that would have closed Jefferson for an entire school year and change the structure of the school. In the face of district plans that would take away the distinctiveness of Jefferson, our community rallied together to save Jefferson and develop an alternative plan for the future of Jefferson Junior/Senior High School.

Jefferson Community Plan is Released
Over the summer, the Jefferson Steering Team of 18 community members (educators and staff, parents, and student leaders) met regularly to put together the plan for the future of Jefferson Junior/Senior High School.
During the summer, the Steering Team discussed the following topics:
- Budget and staffing
- 7th-12th grade bilingual program
- Career pathways
- Junior high programming
- Systems and structures (community schools and innovations schools)
This community plan proposal is the product of these conversations over the summer taking into consideration community feedback from the spring community meetings.
We are in conversations with district leaders about holding a community meeting to present these ideas and receive feedback from the community sometime after the start of the school year.
In the meantime, we would love your feedback to the Jefferson Community Plan.
