This week we were made aware of a Lumberg family who is need of some resources to provide for their children. A grandmother with five grandchildren is living in a small apartment that has cockroaches. They are moving into a bigger apartment at the beginning of February and are in need of a few furniture items. According to their caseworker, this grandmother is very resourceful and resilient and only asks for help when they really need it.
We would love to come alongside this Lumberg family and provide these needed furniture items.
Here is what we are looking for:
- 5 new twin bed frames and mattresses
- Dining table with 6 chairs
- Couch
Email Joel Newton at joel@edgewatercollective.org if you can donate a used dining table or couch. You can also donate online here so we can purchase the 5 new twin bed frames and mattresses. A $250 donation will purchase one twin bed and foundation.
More about our Family Support Process
General Idea
In our community we have a number of different resources and services for families. But there are certain situations where a family needs a specific resource or service that is not available in our community. We want to create a process for families to demonstrate need and then find community members who can meet that need.
Process Goal
Connecting community resources with family needs to empower families
Jefferson Success Pathway Goal Link
Every child and family is healthy, well fed and well supported
Values
- We desire to empower children and their families and not enable them. This is best accomplished in an ongoing relationship with school staff.
- Replication of services and resources is unnecessary and should be avoided
