All of the children in the Jefferson Articulation Area utilize iPads at school and home through a generous 1:1 program through Jeffco Schools. A piece of our cradle to career pathway is utilizing these iPads and technology to teach children how to code.
We are working with Emagineif and Open World Learning to help kids learn to code from elementary through high school and beyond. Open World Learning has had great success in their after school coding program at Edgewater Elementary and we would love to bring it to Lumberg Elementary in the fall. The Open World Learning program positively impacts students’ attendance and test scores.
It costs $40,000 a year for the after school program at a school. We are hoping to talk to local tech companies/employees about helping to fund this program.
If you work for a local tech company that might be interested in partnering with this venture, email Joel Newton for more information. You can read more about Open World Learning and their after school elementary program here.
