We support all of our Jefferson Area students and families, so we wanted to pass on this opportunity to support one of our Jefferson students whose mother was just deported to Mexico. Here’s the full story from Nathan Chamberlain, one of the Jefferson counselors who is supporting the Jefferson student and family.


On January 28th, ICE agents illegally broke into the car of Shadia Gonzalez, dragging her from the vehicle and arresting her. Shadia, who has lived in Colorado for 23 years, has now been deported to Mexico and separated from her three sons, ages 16, 19, and 23. All three boys graduated from or currently attend Jefferson Junior/Senior High School in Edgewater. They are heartbroken as they face a future without their mom. The staff at Jefferson needs your help to assist this family; donations will be used to help with household expenses and bills. If we raise enough, our greatest hope is to fly the boys to Mexico to see their mom. Words cannot express the depth of the bond between these amazing boys and their mom.
