We are at the last stage of College Jumpstart as Jefferson graduates have now started their college classes. Students who complete the first three weeks of college will receive a computer. Why three weeks of college? As we talked to college partners, they said that if students complete their first three weeks of classes, they are more apt to continue through the semester. This incentive of a computer is a motivator to jump through the college enrollment hoops in the summer and start classes.
We are partnering with PCs for People to get each of these students a high quality, like-new laptop computer. You can sponsor one of these students by donating $150 for their computer. Our goal is to find 45 sponsors for our graduates.
As a thank you for your generous support, we invite donors to join us in celebration to the computer giveaway event on Monday, September 18 to meet our Jefferson Saint graduates and college students!
Share with your friends and show your support for our Saint graduates by sponsoring one of our students in College Jumpstart!

Final Edgewater Market and Music and College Jumpstart Fundraiser
Join us for the final Edgewater Market and Music of the season on Thursday, September 7 from 5-8 pm! We are partnering with Joyride Brewing to sell beer to benefit the College Jumpstart program.
Goal of College Jumpstart
Double the amount of Jefferson Jr/Sr High graduates who go on to college
Targeted Resources to Guide Students to College
Many of these Jefferson graduates are the first members of their family to graduate high school and go on to college. We are working with multiple partners to bring targeted resources to these students to provide a summer bridge to college.
Here are the resources available to these students:
- CareerPlus Mentoring Program through Goodwill during the school year
- Job skill training and job fair in spring 2017
- Scholarships for college
- College Jumpstart Week in June
- Week long program focused on training students in the skills and self-awareness necessary to succeed in college
- Mentoring in June, July and August
- Computer incentive for students who complete their first three weeks of college
